Our Location

Please note that road access to Portage Resort may vary from time to time. While the resort is accessible by several transport options, road conditions can occasionally change due to maintenance or repairs. We recommend checking the latest updates on our website or social media channels before travelling.

By boat

From Picton, take a direct water taxi to Torea Bay (approximately 15 minutes), followed by a 4-minute pre-booked vehicle transfer or a scenic 30-minute walk over the saddle to the resort.
Water taxi services also operate from Havelock (around 40 minutes by boat).

By road

Kenepuru Road offers vehicle access to the resort, subject to occasional road conditions.

By helicopter

Arrive in style with scenic flights from regional partners such as Helicopters Nelson.
Resort guests may use the promotional code PORTAGE10 for exclusive pricing (subject to partner terms and availability).

By air

Fly with Pelorus Air from Picton to Nopera (approximately 10 minutes), then transfer via Kenepuru Water Taxi directly to Portage Resort.

Bag Transfers for Hotel Guests

Cougar Line and Beachcomber operate arrival schedules throughout the day, delivering both guests and luggage to Torea Bay. Luggage transfers must be arranged directly with them at the time of booking your water taxi.

If you wish to send your luggage unaccompanied, a Portage staff member will collect it on arrival and deliver it to the resort.

On your departure day, please place your bags in the luggage shed at the top of the Resort’s Reception stairs by 9.00am. Hotel staff will transport all luggage to Torea Bay for collection. Please do not leave bags outside your room, as the luggage shed is the designated collection point.

    10 minutes from Picton to Nopera via Pelorus Air, or you can opt for a longer flight with a bird's eye view of the Sounds. From Nopera you can book with Kenepuru Water Taxi to catch a boat that will drop you off directly to the Portage Bay.
